The whole coastline it's ideal for surfing with waves for the beginner to the fearless pro, year round. If you are learning there are many gentle beach breaks from Playa Carmen to Santa Teresa and northern in Playa Hermosa. Water is warm so there is no need for wetsuit, just bring sunscreen or a lycra.
You will find the best conditions for surfing during the early morning
and late evening, when you can surf glassy left and rights. Most
of the breaks are surfed with any tide.
At full high tide waves get kinda soft, with banky shoulders and mellow
rides. When it get shallow, at low tide, waves are faster, steeper and you
can start looking for tubes.
Learning to surf is a wonderfull experience expecially

Swells hit this coast year round, in the summer months, from november to april, you'll have north-west swells while during the green season, it will be more southernly and a little bigger.
When it gets really big and the beach breaks are blown out, experienced surfers will look for point breaks like Suck Rock and Sunset reef, or take a trip across the Cabo Blanco to surf Cabuya, Los Cedros, Las Manchas, and Isla Cemeterio.
